February 21-23 (Saturday-Monday): Grubb Hut

Difficulty: Intermediate

Gather at the entrance to Donner Summit SnoPark for group gear distribution and a pre-trip briefing Saturday morning at 9:30 am. Snopark permits are required to park at the Snopark.  We will ski or snowshoe the usual 3-mile route across Castle Valley,  Castle Pass, and Round Valley to the hut. Optional local touring from the hut on Friday afternoon. Saturday is expected to be a touring day with likely destinations of Sand Ridge Lakes or Paradise Lake. Monday morning is available for touring or yo-yo skiing. The two vegetarian dinners and two breakfasts will be central commissary. Participants are responsible for providing three lunches. Participants will clean the hut before departing around noon on Monday. Contact John Cordes mrjohncordes@gmail.com for more information and to sign up. The maximum number of participants is 10 people, including the leader. The trip fee is $150 per person. Checks should be made out to the “Ski Touring Section” and sent to the leader.  The fee covers the hut, two dinners, two breakfasts, and fuel.

Signup Restrictions: Participants need approval from the trip leader. Please contact the trip leader with your qualifications.

Carpool: Carpooling is encouraged as parking at the Donner Summit SnoPark is $15/day and limited.

Note: Carpool transportation is at the sole risk of the participants.

Cancellation Policy: Activity is held rain or shine, but may be altered due to inclement weather
