March 20-22 (Friday-Sunday): Bradley Hut

Leader: John Langbein. (john_langbein@yahoo.com)

Difficulty: Intermediate

Gather at the bottom of the Pole Creek Road for group gear distribution and a pre-trip briefing Friday morning at 9:30 am. Ski or snowshoe five miles and ~1,800' up the Pole Creek Road to the hut. Optional local touring from the hut on Friday afternoon. Saturday is expected to be a touring day in the area, with likely destinations being Deep Creek or Silver Peak. Sunday morning is available for touring or yo-yo skiing. The vegetarian two dinners will be central commissary. Participants are responsible for providing two breakfasts and three lunches. Participants will clean the hut before departing around noon on Sunday. Contact John Langbein (john_langbein@yahoo.com) for more information and to sign up. The maximum number of participants is 8 people, including the leader. Cost will be $150 per person payable by check or Zelle.  Checks should be written to "Ski Touring Section" and sent to the STS treasurer.  The fee covers the hut, two dinners, and fuel.

Although the route into and out of the hut is relatively free of avalanche terrain, most of the activities on Saturday will venture in or near avalanche terrain. Leader will exercise best judgement in route planning to minimize the exposure, but participants will need to carry avalanche beacon, probe and shovel (and know how to use them).

Level: Moderate (Intermediate)

Cost: $150/pp. Checks should be made out to the Ski Touring Section and sent to the STS treasurer. The fee covers the hut, two dinners, and fuel.
