Please bring a dish as this is a potluck event, with Louisville Sierra Club providing Momma’s barbecue. We will hear from Brooke Perry Pardue, Chair of Yes for Parks, and Alice Bridges, Director of Strategic Initiatives for Parks Alliance of Louisville.
"Yes For Parks"
Louisville Metro government operates more than 120 parks and 13 community centers. They are the heartbeat of our community — cherished spaces where people of all ages recreate, recharge, and connect. Yet, as a result of chronic underfunding, more than half of Louisville’s parks are in “poor” or “fair” condition, with a backlog of millions of dollars in deferred maintenance. These are essential repairs that have been delayed due to a lack of financial resources. To address this decades-long issue, the Greater Louisville Sierra Club has joined the coalition campaigning to place a dedicated park funding measure on the November 2026 ballot. At this month's meeting, learn more about this opportunity and how the community is working together to tackle the problems facing our public greenspaces.
Brooke Perry Pardue serves as Chair of "Yes For Parks" and as Vice President of Strategic Initiatives for the "Parks Alliance of Louisville." She joined the Alliance in November 2017 as President/CEO after serving on the board for five years. Under her leadership, the organization grew exponentially, investing more than $10 million in Louisville’s public parks with a focus on driving equitable investment to improve health and wellbeing for everyone. She spearheaded the creation of Louisville's “Parks For All” plan in 2022, a roadmap that weaves data and community input to ensure areas with the greatest needs are prioritized for investment and maximum impact. Since transitioning executive leadership of the Alliance to successor Chris Chandler, she has become a champion of "Yes For Parks." Prior to her tenure at the Alliance, Brooke served as the Constituent Services Manager for Congressman John Yarmuth for a decade.
Alice Bridges, Parks Alliance Director of Strategic Initiatives, is committed to leveraging parks to improve individual and neighborhood health. In 2019, she began working with West End residents to develop Alberta O. Jones Park, facilitating a community-driven planning process. She previously served as Vice President of Healthy Communities for KentuckyOne Health, working to address issues from violence prevention to food insecurity. She held an array of leadership roles at its predecessor organization, Jewish Hospital & St. Mary’s HealthCare, including marketing/communications, philanthropy, and mission integration. Bridges holds a B.A. in Public Relations and a Masters of Pastoral Studies with a focus on Marketplace Ministry.
