Arroyo Trabuco Oso to Crown Valley

As the crow flies, the distance between the Oso Pkwy and Crown Valley Pkwy bridges over the Arroyo is very short. But we arent crows, and our easy/moderate 5.5 mi, 800 gain/loss loop will navigate a web of dirt-surfaced trails and singletracks through this third stage of our hike to Dana Point. The route features homemade bridges and a patch of jungle. Optional lunch possible after the hike at several eateries. Directions: Meet 8:45 in the parking lot of the Santa Margarita Water District (26111 Antonio Pkwy, RSM) for a 9:00 am start. From the I-5, take Oso Pkwy east, cross over the Arroyo, pass shopping center and turn R on Antonio Pkwy. Turn R again into Water District parking lot and park in one of the spaces nearest to Antonio. Bring: water, hiking shoes, snack, and poles for sure. Ldrs: Ed and Helen Maurer (949) 357-9931.
