Our exploration of the Tuscarora Trail in West Virginia and northern Virginia continues on this walk atop North Mountain between the villages of Gore and Lehew. There will be some good views, including the one from the Pinnacles rock cropping. We may also see a small waterfall. This woodland hike involves 1900 feet of climbing—mostly gradual—and one low-water crossing. Because it involves a carpool, reservations are required, and you must be willing to drive or ride with others. There is no charge for the hike, but donations are welcome.

Level: Strenuous

Cost: Free, but donations welcome

Signup Instructions: Register here and sign the required e-waiver form.

Bring: Plenty of water, lunch and some snacks, and protection from sun. Hiking poles or a staff are strongly recommended.

Signup Restrictions: Must have hiked similar distance on mountainous terrain

Additional Directions: Meet at Shiloh Church parking lot, 0.3 miles south of Lehew Rd. (WV 23/3) on WV 259.

Carpool: From meeting spot, we will carpool to hike start in Gore, VA

Note: Carpool transportation is at the sole risk of the participants.

Cancellation Policy: We will carry on in light precipitation but cancel in case of storms or icy conditions.
