Please join the MA Sierra Club on a beautiful fall hike in the Hoosac Range and Savoy Mountain State Forest of northwestern MA.  This is a 4 mile hike with a 775 foot elevation gain. The trail is through hardwood and boreal forest, passes old cellar holes and a beaver pond, and culminates in a spectacular view, almost 360 degrees, on top of Spruce Hill (2,570  ft. elev.).  Mt. Greylock and the southern Green Mountains are part of the vista from the summit.

During the hike we will be discussing old growth and mature forests, forest advocacy, and flora, fauna, and points of interest along the trail. Also, we may see migrating hawks and other raptors on Spruce Hill. It is a well known migratory watch spot during the fall.

We look forward to you seeing you at the trailhead in mid-October.  Foliage should be peak or close to it!
