Join Sierra Club and other partner organizations in Albany on Tuesday January 13th during Governor Hochul's State of the State address where she will share her agenda and vision for New York in 2026.
Renewable energy is affordable energy, but some of the Governor' Hochul policies are both undermining NY’s climate goals and increasing energy prices for consumers. Despite the major victory our movement enjoyed when Governor Hochul signed the 100 foot rule repeal on December 19th, we are not on track to meet our climate goals that are required by law as dictated by the 2019 Climate Law, ( aka the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act). Under her direction New York State just approved a State Energy Plan that ignores key requirements of the Climate Law, instead embracing an "all of the above" energy approach. We need her to change course.
Please join us in Albany to protest the fracked gas pipelines that are coming back to life under her watch, (like the NESE pipeline that she recently approved despite it being denied three times in the past over the last 5 years) Help us send a message to the governor that we do not want or need new nuclear power plants, gas-powered crypto mines, delayed implementation of the All-Electric Buildings Act or stalled affordability programs like cap and invest. Together, we can do more for energy affordability for all New Yorkers and STAND UP FOR CLIMATE in 2026.
