O: Buck Gully, Corona del Mar
The hike is 6 miles uphill in the shape of a lollipop then back down. Meet 9 am to sign in, Grant Howard Park, 3000 5th Ave, Corona Del Mar (corner of Marguerite) across from the Oasis Senior Center. Then walk over to Oasis Senior Center to visit the restrooms. Walk along 5th St to the trailhead at Buck Gully. Newcomers Welcome! The hike is a bit short of 6 miles with 600' gain/loss. We walk along the Buck Gully Trail up to San Joaquin Hills Rd, walk along next to the road, snack at Rane Chen Gazebo, then reenter the park, walk down a steep hill to rejoin the Buck Gully Trail. Poles are helpful on this combination of narrow single track and wide fire breaks. Three bridges for stream crossings, some shade, nice views from the top with a covered rest stop. Bring 2 liters of water, hiking poles, hiking boots, snack. Sometimes Seasonal closures due to weather, watch this space. No dogs, sorry Park rules.
