Quabbin Reservoir Hike - Rabbit Run Rail Bed and Soapstone Hill Loop
Its fall in New England and a perfect time to be in the hiking in the forest. Please join the Sierra Club MA Chapter on a 5.6 mile hike in the watershed forest near the Quabbin Reservoir (Petersham, MA). There are beautiful views of the reservoir along the trail and at the summit of the hike. Also, if we time it right, we should seeing peak foliage. The elevation gain on the hike is 500 feet.We will be briefly discussing at the outing the Quabbin Reservoir, its history, the watershed public lands, and their benefits. We will also be speaking about the MA Chapter Forest Protection teams campaign to end logging on the state lands of the Quabbin, Ware, and Wachusett watersheds. Sign the petition here. It’s fall in New England, a perfect time to be hiking in the forest. Please join the Sierra Club MA Chapter on a 5.6 mile hike in the watershed forest near the Quabbin Reservoir (Petersham, MA). There are beautiful views of the reservoir along the trail and at the summit of Soapstone Hill. If we’re lucky, we should see peak fall foliage. The elevation gain on the hike is 680 feet with a short, steep climb up to Soapstone Hill.
During the outing we will be discussing the Quabbin Reservoir, its history, the watershed public lands, and their benefits. We will also be speaking about the MA Chapter Forest Protection Team’s campaign to end logging on the state lands of the Quabbin, Ware, and Wachusett watersheds. Sign the petition here.

Signup Instructions: Please register for this hike by filling out and submitting the registration form and waiver.
Recommended Items: To be provided to those people who register in advance.
Signup Restrictions: There is a limit of 20 people for this outing due to limited parking at the trailhead. Participants are to be in good physical condition.
Additional Directions: If the hike gets cancelled due to rain on Oct. 25, it will be rescheduled to Oct. 31 (rain date).
