Red Lake Peak Traverse Date: 29Mar2026 Difficulty: Advanced.
Starting at Carson Pass, we’ll traverse around Red Lake peak for great views of the area and have
fine skiing down to Crater Lake and then to the cars on Hwy 88.
The first part of the tour follows this tour:
Tour - Red Lake Peak
We may or may not do the peak bagging (conditions and participant views pending). From there, we’ll loop around the
steeper slopes into the bowl above Crater Lake. This route shows the full trip:

All participants required to meet the STS skills for advanced trips. See Track for details.
This is a fair weather tour. Foul weather or unstable snow pack will result in an alternate tour or cancellation.
Avalanche gear is required (beacon, probe shovel).

Bring: Avalanche safety equipment required (beacon, shovel, probe).

Signup Restrictions: All participants required to meet the STS skills for advanced trips.

Additional Directions: Leader will contact participant to assess required experience and gear, confirm trip acceptance

Carpool: Trailheads car shuttle prior to trip start

Note: Carpool transportation is at the sole risk of the participants.

Cancellation Policy: Trip cancels if no snow. Trip cancels or reroutes with level 3 (considerable) avalanche danger forecast.
