Spend a day outdoors with Sierra Club Military Outdoors, Adventure Scientists, and the Trust for Public Land. On
Saturday, July 18th at 9 am, help protect the future of healthy American beech trees. While these trees are common, it’s getting harder to find healthy ones.
Help us save American beech trees. By joining our outdoor adventure, you can help find and protect healthy, disease-resistant trees. Take part today to support important restoration and keep these iconic trees in our forests.
Volunteers will collect samples from healthy beech trees at the beautiful McIntosh Reserve Park to help protect them for future generations. This event is family-friendly and a great way to support one of America’s most iconic tree species.
You can complete a quick online
Adventure Scientist training before the event, and we’ll provide all the gear you need on the day.
Participants will meet at McIntosh Reserve Park, in the parking lot near Pavilion #3. Folks should wear comfortable hiking clothes and shoes for the day, bring bug spray, sunscreen, water, and a light jacket in case of rain. The Sierra Club will provide a light breakfast.
All ages are welcome, and families are strongly encouraged to join us on that day. Veterans and civilians are also welcome to attend this event. Please get in touch with the trip leader, Lornett Vestal, at
lornett.vestal@sierraclub.org with any questions or concerns.
This event will be held rain or shine and won’t be canceled unless there is a severe weather warning or watch.
