Tree Planting at Deering Oaks Park in Portland!

Join Sierra Club Maine Chapter at a special native tree planting event in Deering Oaks Park, Portland. Mark Reiland, City Aborist for Portland, and Leyla Hashi from Portland Parks Conservancy will be there to lead us. Tree Planting is followed by a clean-up of the park. Drop in for either project or join us for both!

Join Sierra Club Maine Chapter at a special native tree planting event in Deering Oaks Park, Portland.  Mark Reiland, City Aborist for Portland, and Leyla Hashi, Community Engagement Manager from Portland Parks Conservancy will be there to provide instruction.  Tree planting will begin at 2:00 pm for approximately 1.5 hours followed by 1.5 hours of clean up in Deering Oaks Park.  Drop in for either or both projects!

Deering Oaks Park is located west of downtown Portland and is bordered by Deering Avenue on the west, Forest Avenue on the east, Park Avenue to the south and Interstate 295 to the north.  The bandstand is close to the pond and the Castle off of State Street.
 
WE WILL BE MEETING AT THE BANDSTAND AT 2:00 PM!

 

Additional Directions: Please dress appropriately for tree planting, with study shoes, and outdoor clothing. Please bring work gloves if you have them.
