Red Indian Paintbrush Wildflowers

The Colorado Sierra Club Headwaters Group and Conservation Colorado will co-host an informative 4-mile hike at Upper Straight Creek.

Karn Stiegelmeier of the Colorado Sierra Club, Headwaters Group will talk about wildflowers in the area.

Josh Kuhn of Conservation Colorado will talk about the proposed Continental Divide Wilderness and Recreation Act, and the nearby Ptarmigan Wilderness expansions.

Andy Massell, Headwaters Group Outings Chair, is coordinating the hike.

Summit County participants will carpool from the Office Max parking lot at 8:30 AM, to meet at the trailhead at 10:00 AM.  The 4-mile hike is rated as "moderate" and is about 3 hours long.  Well-behaved dogs on leashes are welcome.

Cost: FREE

Signup Instructions: Please sign-up for the hike as it is limited to 20 people. Participants should also sign the online liability waiver to reduce time at the trailhead

Bring: Hiking shoes, sunscreen, sunglasses, water, lunch/snacks. Hike duration is about 3 hrs

Signup Restrictions: Hike is limited to 20 participants. Well-behaved dogs on leashes welcome

Additional Directions: Summit County Folks can meet at the Office Max Parking lot at 8:30am. All others should meet at the trailhead at 10am. Eastbound Hwy 70, take the truck exit at the top of the pass just before the tunnel. Stay right and go behind tunnel station (sign says "trucks only" but ignore this sign) and you will see a parking area and trailhead

Carpool: Summit County participants are encouraged to meet at the Office Max parking lot at 8:30am and carpool to the trailhead

Note: Carpool transportation is at the sole risk of the participants.
