Summer walk & picnic at Duke Island Park, Bridgewater

We’ll walk for 3 miles at an easy pace.  In July, the park features mid-summer blooms, including various native wildflowers, daylilies and flowering shrubs along the Raritan River. The park is characterized by its open, grassy areas and wooded, riparian, and riverbank scenery. Enjoy a relaxing walk on a shaded path along the Raritan River to the Headgates Dam.  In April one of our members saw a bald eagle perched on a tree branch!

Duke Island Park includes trails that are part of the Raritan River Greenway.  Truly an ‘island’ park, it is traversed by the historic Raritan Power Canal.  After the walk, we'll enjoy a picnic lunch.
