New Years Eve Snowshoe on the Crest.

Saturday, Dec 31: New Years Eve Snowshoe on the Crest. If you can walk, you can snowshoe! Meet at 9 a.m. at Hobby Lobby on Juan Tabo to carpool or at Sandia Crest at 9:45 a.m. This high altitude, three-hour long outing is approximately 2.5 miles round trip with 150 feet of elevation gain. Well depart from the Sandia crest parking lot and proceed along the crest trail with several stops to enjoy stunning views all the way to the continental divide. Well cover tips for safely traversing on snowshoes and winter hiking. Sponsored by the Military Outdoors Program and everyone is welcome. Appropriate for children over 14 with parent or legal guardian. No dogs, please. Register no later than December 22nd. Cost: $3 USFS amenity fee to park at the crest, pay at the USFS pay station or online, otherwise a Cibola Forest or other USFS/US Park Service pass will be required.

Signup Instructions: Sign-up at the link provided NLT December 22nd.

Bring: Appropriate winter attire for weather down into the 20's, snowshoes, trekking poles, water, snacks and any other health and comfort items necessary.

Signup Restrictions: Appropriate for children over 14 with parent or legal guardian. No dogs, please.

Carpool: Carpools are at participants' own risk.

Note: Carpool transportation is at the sole risk of the participants.

Cancellation Policy: Heavy snow or temperatures below 15 degrees F will result in cancellation.
