Preserve Cultural Heritage Sites
The Sierra Club was founded to preserve and protect our natural spaces, but preserving cultural resources is also an integral part of Sierra Clubs mission. Learn about the on-going work of the California Cultural Resources Preservation Alliance (CCRPA) to protect and preserve areas such as sacred sites, historic sites, cultural landscapes, and indigenous peoples traditional places in southern California with focus on Orange and Los Angeles counties. Patricia Martz, Ph.D., founding member & president of the CCRPA will highlight efforts to help protect the traditional home of the Acjachemen in San Juan Capistrano leading to the opening of Putuidem Village in the NW open space preserve. Hear about other endangered areas in the county and what can be done to ensure their preservation.
