Saturday, Aug. 31: Fall Birds Along Animas River in Farmington. 8:00 a.m. to c. 11:00 a.m. This is the first of two trips to look for migrating birds in the fall. The other will be on October 26. Meet at the Riverside Nature Center at 8 AM. 18 year olds and up. No dogs please. Leisurely pace. Trip will be 2.5 miles on level dirt trails. Dress for the weather and bring binocular, snacks and water. Sunscreen and bug juice always good. For added enjoyment, download the free App called Merlin onto your phone. Limit of ten people. Directions: from US-64 south of Farmington, turn north onto Browning Pkwy, NM-516, and go to third traffic light, turn left there, proceed right at the fork, then follow signs to Riverside Nature Center. Or from Farmington, at East Main and Browning Pkwy, head south to the first traffic light, turn right, then proceed as above.

Additional Directions: Coming from the north, take US Hwy 550 to Aztec. In Aztec, 550 turns left and heads south. At that intersection, stay straight on Hwy 516, which becomes Main Street as you enter Farmington. Look for Browning Parkway (still Hwy 516), where you turn left. Drive to the first traffic light, turn right, proceed to the roundabout, go right there, then take your first left, which takes you to a parking area, next to a gate. We will meet there. From US-64 south of Farmington, turn north onto Browning Pkwy, NM-516, and go to third traffic light, turn left there, proceed right at the fork, then take first left into parking area, where we will meet.
