Spoonauger Falls Hike with the Foothills Sierra Club

Kathy Crain invites you to attend this hike to Spoonauger Falls along the Chattooga River Trail at Burrells Ford. Starting from the parking area close to the river bridge (on the SC side), well hike north along the Chattooga Trail for about 0.25 miles to Spoonauger Creek. Well then scamper up the hill to experience the Spoonauger Falls. The Falls are set back into a hillside and surrounded by an explosion of rhododendron. Spoonauger Falls runs down a stepped rock face in a broad sheet. It is a 50-foot high waterfall among the more popular in this area of the Chattooga River watershed. Well then find a sunny rock along the river for lunch and then consider driving to the Burrells Ford campground parking area (<0.5 mile) to hike to the King Creek Falls. This 1.4 mile out-and-back trail is considered generally easy to complete.

Please bring along lunch and water. Depending on the weather, you may wish to take a dip in the river. Well behaved dogs are welcomed, with leashing required at the parking lot and in highly populated areas.
We’ll meet at the West Union Ingles parking lot over by the Shell station at 10:00 to consider carpooling and caravanning. If you meet us at Burrells Ford, please look for us to gather on the river bridge by 10:30.
