What: Roughly 7.0 miles; moderately difficult with water crossings, rocky terrain, an 180-foot elevation gain (in places 15-20% grade). Wild upper reaches of Gans Creek, bordered by scenic oak woodlands, punctuated by limestone cliffs – all within the 750-acre Gans Creek Wild Area,
designated for the preservation of ‘natural & wild places’ and ‘biodiversity’.
Meet at the Gans Creek Trailhead (South Rock Quarry Road parking area) (Rock Quarry Road at Hwy 163).
Why: To experience the beauty and health benefits of trails in the vicinity of Columbia, MO; to be an advocate for our wild and scenic resources. And to meet like-minded people who love hiking in the Ozark Highlands
