Landscaping Practices That Degrade Local Ecosystems vs. Ecological Restoration

Wednesday, Mar. 5, 2025, 6:30 p.m.
Unitarian Fellowship Hall, 421 S. Farwell St., Eau Claire WI

Eau Claire Ornithologist Steve Betchkal will take us on a virtual tour of Eau Claire, featuring good and bad landscaping. Betchkal will ask for audience participation in suggesting actions that would improve damaged landscapes and in return, enrich our lives.

According to Douglas Tallamy, ecological restoration will enrich our lives by producing more pollinators, more pest control, more carbon sequestration, more rainwater absorbed in the land, and more bluebirds, orioles, and pileated woodpeckers in our yards, and Monarchs sipping nectar from our flowers. This proactive approach to earth stewardship can no longer be the unfulfilled dream of a few environmentalists.

Attend this program and learn how you can do ecological restoration in your own backyard. According to Doug Tallamy, “It is nature's, and thus humanity's best hope”.
