Hearing on We Energies rate increases
We Energies has proposed to raise rates again, with everyday people bearing the brunt of the increase. This, paired with their fossil fuel proposals, is unacceptable. These hearings are the way to let the 3 Public Service Commissioners (the 3 people who make this decision) what you think about We Energies' proposal. There are two times each hearing: 2 pm and 6 pm. You can attend in person or virtually.

We Energies has proposed yet another rate increase on electric and gas bills - with residential customers (AKA everyday people) bearing the brunt of the increase. Along with this, they haven't improved affordability or low income programs, the investigation of which was ordered by the Public Service Commission last rate case. And as if that wasn't enough, We Energies is blaming these price increases on clean energy and on needing it for reliability -- meanwhile they are delaying the closure of coal plants and proposing new fossil gas (which they call "natural gas"), which is expensive, dirty and less reliable, especially in severe weather events, than clean energy options.
The 3 people who get to approve or deny We Energies' requests are the Public Service Commissioners, and these hearings are a key way for us to share our opinions with them!
There are 4 hearings total to choose from:
October 1 at 2 pm and 6 pm in Racine and online
October 3 at 1 pm and 6 pm in Milwaukee and online
