Join one of Maryland Sierra Club’s biggest events of the year! Our annual Lobby Night is an essential way to help advance key environmental legislation while standing alongside other Sierra Club members in your community.

On Wednesday, February 5th at 7 PM we will hold our virtual Lobby Night Kickoff. During this event, we will review the Chapter’s 2025 legislative agenda and provide background information on our priority bills. You will also have a chance to meet with other members in your district to prepare for your Lobby Night meetings.

Then, join us on Monday, February 10th for our Annual Lobby Night, during which you will have an opportunity to meet virtually with your district’s state legislators. We are asking everyone to join the Kickoff event to help prepare for their meetings on Monday, February 10th.

Lobby Night meetings will happen between 5:30 and 8 PM on Monday, February 10th, on the Zoom platform. You will be emailed the time of your district’s Lobby Night meetings as well as a link to the Kickoff event and Lobby Night meetings closer to the event.

This year we will be lobbying on priority bills to:

🌟Support the growth of abundant and affordable clean energy like solar and offshore wind, and move Maryland away from dirty, polluting sources of energy.

🌎 Reduce beverage container litter and plastic pollution; increase container recycling to 90% and the availability of high-quality materials for new containers; and create new jobs in recycling by enacting a statewide recycling-refund and litter reduction program for beverage containers (“bottle bill”). .

🚉 Shift investments away from highway expansion to more affordable and clean transportation choices including public transit, walking and biking (“Transportation and Climate Alignment Act”).

Direct conversations with your elected officials to advocate on these issues is one of the most powerful actions you can take to make positive changes for our environment!
