O: Tour de Carlsbad flower fields

A unique 6.5 mile loop, 900 gain walk/hike on sidewalks and dirt trails in Carlsbad, CA (near Legoland). Great views of hills, bays, ocean and flowers. Well get an early start (less traffic), walk at a steady pace, then return to our cars around 1:00 pm. At halfway mark we'll take a long brunch break at the benches directly above the flower fields. We return to our cars walking past Legoland on a different route. Group size limited (no minors or pets). Email leader for additional details. Wear comfortable layers/footwear, bring water, essentials, and food/beverages. All participants meet 8:00am at Veterans Park Trails, street parking on Farraday Ave. Early meetup @7:00am available at Junipero Serra Park and Ride 30355 Rancho Viejo Rd to make private carpool arrangements. N.B. Leaders cannot take an active role in making arrangements for participants' transportation. The Sierra Club does not have insurance for carpool arrangements and assumes no liability for them. The leader supplies directions to the trailhead, but carpooling, ride sharing or anything similar is strictly a private arrangement among the participants. Participants assume the risks associated with this travel. Riders customarily share expenses with drivers. The contribution varies with the vehicle, number of riders, road condition, etc.
