Come join Sierra Club for a hike around Camp Katharine Parsons, the property that was once the only African American family Summer Camp in Minnesota beginning in 1929.
This hike will be led by Aaron Ravio-Lynch, Executive Director of Camp Operations at Camp Katharine Parsons. On this walking tour, he will discuss the inextricable link between Camp Katharine Parsons and The Phyllis Wheatley Community (formerly The Phyllis Wheatley Settlement House). He will also discuss the history of the camp, and the current efforts to breathe life back into a historic and cultural treasure, located just outside of Watertown, MN.
This hike is limited to 20 people, so register to save your spot to be transported to a very important part of African American history in Minnesota!
This hike is classified as, "moderate." - Varied paved / unpaved and uneven terrain.
Cost - FREE
This event is for BIPOC participants only to create a safe space for participants and will be led by a BIPOC outdoor professional.
