Join us for a family nature walk at Detroit’s Belle Isle State Park, starting at 10 a.m. from the lighthouse parking lot. Bring your kids for a fun and scenic walk through Belle Isle’s forests and fields, with beautiful views along the Detroit River. We’ll explore a variety of habitats, spot local wildlife, and stop at a favorite riverside spot where kids love to splash and play.

Bathrooms are available near both the lighthouse and the Nature Center, accessible at the beginning and end of the walk. We’ll take water breaks along the way to stay cool and comfortable. Don’t forget sunscreen, a hat, and bug spray!

The walk should last about 2 to 3 hours. After the lighthouse walk, anyone interested is welcome to join us for a second adventure on the trails near the Nature Center.

Families are encouraged to bring a picnic lunch and enjoy even more of what Belle Isle has to offer after our nature walk—like visiting the Anna Scripps Whitcomb Conservatory, the Belle Isle Aquarium, or the Dossin Great Lakes Museum.
