O: Tue Moderate Hikers/Malibu Creek State Park to King Gillette Ranch

Moderate 8.3 mile hike with 1463 ft altitude gain. This will be a loop hike. Meet at the southeast corner of Las Virgenes Road and Mulholland. We will walk a short distance to the Grassland Trailhead on Mulholland. We will hike through MCSP then under Las Virgenes Road (yes, under) into Gillette Ranch where we will circle around on the Ridge Trail back to our cars. Depending on water levels in the creek, there may be a stream crossing and hiking poles would be helpful. Time: 9:00 a.m. at at the corner of Las Virgenes and Mulholland. If carpooling from the Palidades meet at 8:20 am Pacific Palisades rideshare point (first parking lot on the right on Los Liones after turning on Sunset. This is a back country hike: medical form required. Med forms can be downloaded from URL bitly.com/scmedicalform or will be available at the trailhead.

Bring: Bring lunch, snacks and at least 2 quarts of water. Lug sole shoes a must for this trail which is steep and rocky in places.

Additional Directions: Directions:From PCH turn right on Malibu Canyon and drive to Mullholland Hwy. Park on the southeast corner on the dirt shoulder. From the 101, take the Las Virgenes/ Malibu Canyon Road Exit going south toward the ocean. Drive to the stoplight at Mullholland Hwy. Turn L and then an immediate R onto the dirt shoulder on the southeast corner of the intersection. In going on a Sierra Club outing you are potentially on a trip with individuals vaccinated and unvaccinated. It is your choice to attend the outing knowing this information. The leader can not and should not reveal the status of participants vaccination or reject a participant based on their vaccination status. You are welcome to wear a mask if that makes you comfortable. If someone is experiencing any possible COVID symptoms or is sick, they should not attend the outing. The participant is responsible for contacting the leader to report a positive COVID test. Leaders will provide participants with their contact information. Leader will report as an Incident Report to the Sierra Club.Please use Covid precautions if you share a ride.Check online Sierra Club Schedule of Activities and your emails before leaving the morning of.
