O: Tue Moderate Hikers Sycamore Canyon Ray Miller

Moderately paced 10-mile, 1800 foot gain hike on the Sycamore Canyon, Wood Canyon, Overlook, and Ray Miller trails finishing at the La Jolla Campground. The outing will be a one-way shuttle hike (shuttle less than two miles). Meet 8:30 am in the Ray Miller Trailhead parking lot (fee, or free with an appropriate California State Park parking pass) or on Pacific Coast Highway (free). The Ray Miller trailheadis 4.9 miles northwest of Yerba Buena Road (Neptune's Net); or 4.2 miles southeast of Las Posas Road. Go past the yellow gate into the parking area or park along the shoulder (on the east side of PCH). From there, we will car shuttle 2 miles to the Sycamore Canyon parking lot.Bring water, snacks, sunscreen, and a good attitude. Rain or Red Flag alert cancels. This is a back country hike: medical form required. Med forms can be downloaded from URL bitly.com/scmedicalform or will be available at the trailhead.

Additional Directions: In going on a Sierra Club outing you are potentially on a trip with individuals vaccinated and unvaccinated. It is your choice to attend the outing knowing this information. The leader can not and should not reveal the status of participants vaccination or reject a participant based on their vaccination status. You are welcome to wear a mask if that makes you comfortable. If someone is experiencing any possible COVID symptoms or is sick, they should not attend the outing. The participant is responsible for contacting the leader to report a positive COVID test. Leaders will provide participants with their contact information. Leader will report as an Incident Report to the Sierra Club.

Carpool: Please use Covid precautions if you share a ride.

Note: Carpool transportation is at the sole risk of the participants.

Cancellation Policy: Check online Sierra Club Schedule of activities and your emails before leaving the morning of. Red flag alert, the hike will be cancelled for local temperatures ( weather Nicholas Flat) of 80 degrees F or higher, or rain cancels.
