Coyote Lake, Wildflower Hike (Dog Friendly) (Front Country)
Rating 1A1 (5 miles, 500 feet)

Join us for an easy, leisurely stroll amongst the wildflowers. Well behaved dogs on a leash are welcome to join. Hike will be a short 5 miles with little elevation gain. We will take our time on this hike, stopping often to enjoy the blossom of Spring and view nature’s offering of a wide variety of wildlife and wildflowers that should be in full bloom.

We’ll start at the Black Tail Picinic Area / Harvey Bear Boat Launch, then meander up to Coyote Ridge Trail via Ohlone and Valley Oak Trails. Then we’ll make our way along Coyote Ridge Trail, Harvey Bear Trail and Calaveras Trail, through live oaks and plentiful wildflowers with views of Coyote Lake. We’ll stop for lunch and rest along the way. We should experience plenty of wildflowers along this route and will have more views of the lake and the valley.

Bring a lunch, water, sun protection, layers in case it’s cold, and a camera.
Parts of the trail may be muddy and rough, so wear good hiking boots.

Directions: From 101 in Gilroy, take Leavesley Rd, New Ave, Roop Rd to Coyote Lake Rd. Meet us at the Black Tail Picnic Area near the Harvey Bear Boat Launch on 1.4mi down Coyote Lake Rd. at 10:00am. Bathrooms are available in the parking area. There is a $6 parking fee.

Steady rain cancels.
