Cyclists love nature, too!The Santa Clarita cycling community is raising money to support the Angeles Chapter of the Sierra Club. The goal is to raise $3000 - 100% will support Sierra Club's work in Los Angeles and Orange County.
NOTE: REFERENCES TO "TICKETS" ON THIS FORM ARE MEANT FOR DONATIONS, NOT TICKETS. (Unavoidable technical issue with not being able to change the word "ticket" to "donation."
The event is free.On March 22, 2025 in Castaic, CA cyclists from all across Los Angeles will attempt a feat known as "Everesting" in which they ride 29,029 feet of elevation gain, equivalent to climbing Mount Everest. This is a globally recognized challenge (it's kind of a big deal to complete!). While we don't have any local mountains quite that high, the "Castaic High School" climb has been described by the Everesting founder to be "right in the Goldilocks zone for an Everesting: perfect gradient, nice open corners, and plenty of space for bikes!" The high school climb is just 1.5 miles up (3 miles round trip) with 520 feet of gain per lap, which means cyclists will get plenty of downhill breaks.
Cyclists who complete 1/4, 1/2, or the full length -- with strict guidelines specified by everesting.com -- will be registered in the Everesting Hall of Fame and will receive an official Everesting Medallion.
The event itself is NOT a Sierra Club event, but all of the money raised by the event hosts will benefit our work.
Please use this form to make a donation to the Sierra Club Angeles ChapterEvery dollar donated is like a virtual energy boost for the cyclists! Plus, your donations will help the Angeles Chapter to expand the Northern Los Angeles Forest National Monument, keep polluters from destroying our fragile ecosystems, and grow amazing outings programs that get more people excited about exploring nature!
The event is hosted by Cafe Riders and the Santa Clarita cycling community. They invite you to come out and try a few laps (or the whole thing) or just come out and enjoy a day at the park with some of our Sierra Club friends. Serious climbers will likely start their ride around 3am with partial climbers joining throughout the day. The bottom of the hill is a lovely park with bathrooms.
Food trucks will be pulling up throughout the day!To register for the event, please go to:
