Guest Speaker: Melodie Grubbs
Melodie Grubbs, Executive Director of the Morro Bay National Estuary Program, will share an overview of the program’s efforts to protect water quality, restore vital habitats, and support the diverse wildlife that depends on the bay. We’ll touch on several ongoing projects, including eelgrass restoration, riparian habitat improvements to enhance fish passage, and dune restoration efforts to create more resilient coastal ecosystems while supporting sensitive species. The presentation will also highlight monitoring efforts that help track the bay’s health over time, as well as education and outreach initiatives that engage the community in conservation. Morro Bay is a dynamic and ever-changing estuary, and its long-term health depends on science, stewardship, and collaboration. This will be a broad discussion rather than a deep dive into any one project—providing a look at the many ways we’re working to protect and restore this special place.
