Friends of Monmouth Battlefield Driving Tour to the Battle of Monmouth Monument

-- Meet at 1:30 p.m. at the Visitors Center, 20 State Rte. 33, Manalapan. There are facilities. This monument, directly in front of the Monmouth County Courthouse, is over 90 feet high and one of the highest monuments in New Jersey. The Battle of Monmouth, fought on June 28, 1778, was one of the longest single-day battles of the Revolutionary War. It was also a running battle, the fighting began just north of downtown Freehold Borough and traversed nearly 3 miles to the grounds of the modern-day Monmouth Battlefield State Park.
