Picture from last year's Sierra Club-NOLS WFA TrainingWILDERNESS FIRST AID TRAININGPrepare for the unexpected with this engaging, hands-on introduction to wilderness medicine, taught over two days.
This is a great training for people who want to help lead overnight Sierra Club Outings (e.g. camping trips), and/or outings in the backcountry! It's also an awesome option for folks who take short trips relatively close to medical resources, work at wilderness camps, enjoy weekend family outdoor activities, or recreate outdoors.
This course is appropriate for people of all experience levels, and is best suited for those who recreate outdoors where EMS response can be expected in a timely manner (fewer than eight hours). You'll learn the Patient Assessment System, how to provide effective first aid treatments for injuries and illnesses common in the outdoors, and how to make appropriate evacuation decisions.
You'll learn both in the classroom and in outdoor settings regardless of weather, so come prepared for wet, muddy, cold or hot environments!
This training will be FUN and is a great way to get to know other Sierra Club members/supporters, connect with other nature lovers, and learn some safety skills!DETAILSThis training is hosted by Idaho Sierra Club as an inclusive shared learning space for its members, supporters, and community partners. All attendees must agree to Idaho Sierra Club's values to create a safe and inclusive space for BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and folks with disabilities.
Pay-what-you-can: $0-$280/person (typically $310 for members of the public). You will be directed to a square site after registering that will allow you to pay.

We are offering this option for free or low cost for those who need it, but if you have the means, please pay the whole amount.Training is the full weekend:

- Sun, June 8, 8am-5pm (1 hr break for lunch)
You will receive your NOLS Wilderness First Aid (WFA) certificate after you complete the course.
