What is the Trimount project? This energy storage facility will clean up and redevelop part of the old ExxonMobil oil tank farm in Everett, providing 700 megawatts of flexible, affordable power capacity on our grid with major local economic benefits.
Why do we need energy storage? Projects like Trimount lower our energy costs and make our grid cleaner and more reliable. This project will be able to store up a whole power plant’s worth of energy when supply is cheapest and most abundant, then deploy it at times of peak demand or high prices. It can also provide backup power to keep the lights on during extreme weather. The Trimount project will improve local air quality and reduce climate pollution by maximizing the benefits of renewable energy projects and moving us away from dirty, expensive fossil fuels.
What will Trimount mean for Everett? The project represents millions in tax revenue for Everett schools and other public services, hundreds of millions in community investment, and hundreds of construction jobs. Trimount will also tee up long-term economic growth by supporting long-term plans for a mixed-use development on the rest of the old tank farm site.
By sharing your support for clean energy projects like Trimount, you can make a real difference toward building a sustainable, healthy future in Everett and across Massachusetts. We hope to see you at the public hearing on April 8!
