Estes Park: Day Hike - Lion Gulch to Homestead Meadows
This is a moderately challenging hike through shaded mixed forest and open meadows. There are some steep and rocky sections and we may have some rock hopping to cross the creek in places. The trail leads to some old historic homesteads, where we'll plan to have lunch before turning back. Total distance: 7 miles with 1,400 feet elevation gain/loss.

Level: Moderate
Bring: Good hiking shoes/boots, daypack, at least one liter of water, raingear, sun protection, snacks and lunch. Hiking poles recommended.
Additional Directions: Directions: Travel on U.S. Highway 36 to the Lion Gulch Trailhead parking lot. It is located 7 miles east of Estes Park and 13 miles west of Lyons on the south side of U.S. Highway 36 at mile marker #8.
Carpool: Please indicate on the registration form if you are interested in carpooling.
