Plant ID & Nature Walk with QueerNEPA
Queer NEPA and Sierra Club of Northeast PA is partnering for our first outdoor activity of the year on Sunday, May 3rd from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. We'll be taking it slow and easy at the Delaware & Hudson Canal Park in Hawley. This is a mile-long loop that takes us through the field, along the river, and past the historical Daniel's Farmhouse, D&H Canal, and Canal Lock 31.The trails are relatively easy walks with some brief elevation or short rocky inclines in one or two areas. We will take our time identifying early spring ephemerals, both native and non-native, and enjoy what nature has to offer while remembering to leave it as it was (or better). When we are finished, the trail extends towards Hawley, which is a great small historical town worth exploring on its own!The park is dog friendly, but keep them on a leash and be sure to pick up after them. It is also family-friendly, but all minors must be accompanied by their guardian.Canal Park has handicap-accessible parking and ADA-approved bluestone sidewalks leading to the Daniels Farmhouse. The foot bridge over Lock 31 and the towpath are wheelchair accessible. Make sure to bring water, bug spray, sunblock, and sturdy shoes
