This iconic hike on the southern Cumberland Plateau never gets old!

Join the Sierra Club MidTN Group to explore Fiery Gizzard, consistently ranked among the leading hikes in the southeast. Expect tumbling waterfalls, 400-year-old hemlock, and fascinating geologic formations.

This will be a challenging 3.5-mile hike, leaving at 9 a.m. from the Fiery Gizzard North Trailhead outside Tracy City. We’ll combine the Grundy Day Loop and Sycamore Falls Loop trails, dropping off the plateau to experience the cascades and incredible diversity of flora in these mixed mesophytic forests. Bring along a packed lunch to have on the trail, and your swimsuit in case conditions are good for a dip at Sycamore Falls. Boots required and poles if you need them. Children age 12 and up are welcome with an accompanying guardian.

Carpooling may be possible from the Nashville area. Please note your interest when you register. We’ve only got 15 spots so get on board now!
