Amazon Ants - Right here in the Morro Dunes!

Amazon Ant Walks, June 20, 21, 22
. Join retired Professor of Biology Alex Mintzer for a slow 1-2 mile walk in search of Polyergus Amazon Ants. We may also find Coastal Horned Lizards waiting for these ants; however, ticks may be waiting for you too.  Wear light colored clothing and good shoes for walking on sand. We will meet at one of three venues in or near Los Osos promptly at 4 pm and complete our walk around 6 pm. Because this is an animal behavior walk, there is only a 50% chance of seeing Polyergus raiding on any one day. This walk is not appropriate for tiger hikers, dogs, or younger kids unless they are hardcore ant mavens.

Sign-ups are limited to 9 participants on each walk; please add your email/phone so Dr. Mintzer can provide our meet-up trailhead venue the night before each walk.

📝 Important Notes:
