Rio Salado Habitat Restoration
Get ready to help clean up the Salt River in South Phoenix. It is a great way to get outdoors while helping care for our local watershed. We hold monthly events picking up trash, pulling weeds and planting native vegetation as well as doing trail maintenance on the Rio Salado Habitat Restoration Area. We have been focussing on the butterfly garden at Central and the rier for the last few months to eradicate buffelgrass and stinknet from the area we are cultivating for pollinators. Success! The garden is looking great. In May and June we will move to the area of the 7th Avenue trailhead for invasive species removal and trash pickup. We will also begin to meet earlier, because it will be starting to get warm. Well work from 7-10 beginning in May and continuing through the summer. The dates for the remainder of the year will be July 13, September 14, October 26, November 16, and December 7. Join us!
