Join us for a hike through the Nolde Forest in Berks County! Nolde Forest State Park is 665 acres of deciduous woodlands and coniferous plantations. It has many hiking pathways as well as two streams and a pond. The Nolde Forest Environmental Center is also located in the Park, housed at the converted Arts & Crafts style Nolde Mansion constructed in the early 20th century.
We will be enjoying a walk along the Boulevard Loop Trail making a full circle to return to the Old Sawmill parking lot. Alongside the Boulevard path is a stream, Punches Run, with an adjacent, narrower path which participants may choose to explore on their own at another time. Both paths rise gently to the top of a hill; we will descend back to the parking lot. About a 2-hour hike, medium difficulty because of the rise.
There will be no experts among us unless a participant shares his/her knowledge. If you have an app such as iNaturalist or Seek, please bring it along to learn and to share with others, reception can be spotty but does work.
Family and friends are welcome; more details will be shared with registered participants prior to the hike.
