The Sierra Club Moshannon Group has joined with the Mid State Trail Association to help maintain the trail from Jo Hayes Vista to Indian Steps. Join us for our late spring trail maintenance on the Mid-State Trail. We will meet at the Jo Hayes Vista Parking Lot where we will go over all the details of our hike and clean-up. We will have extra gloves and tools to carry for cutting and picking up branches. During our late spring walk, we will use lobbers to cut new growth that impedes safe walking on the trail. We also clear away large branches that are on the path. This hike requires some physical work.
This is a very rocky and rough ridge trail, so wearing good boots is highly encouraged. This hike has great views, and we will stop at the intersection of the Mid-State Trail and Indian Steps Trail for a lunch break. This hike will be about 4 hours long, so please bring plenty of water, lunch and snacks.
