ATTENTION BICYCLE ENTHUSIASTS!

Come join the Poudre Canyon Group's first bicycle ramble since I've been an outings leader on Friday, June 6. We'll meet at 10 am at the N. Shields St. River Access parking lot by the Poudre River and Poudre Trail. From there, we'll peddle west on the Poudre Trail to Overland Trail (paved road), then climb up Bingham Hill Road followed by an exciting coast down the hill with a spectacular view of the Bellvue valley. We'll head north on N.County Rd.23 to Rist Canyon Rd., with a ride and stop at Watson Lake, then ride some back roads to a lunch stop at the Howling Cow Cafe. From there we'll return through the small town of LaPorte and head back on the Poudre Trail for a total distance of about fifteen miles, all on paved roads.

Reservations are necessary, and group size is limited to eleven. It's also necessary to sign a waiver, and a paper one will also be available at the meeting place.

Participants should be in good shape and have the bike skills necessary for this moderate level ride, and they should also make sure that their bikes are mechanically fit. Spare tire tubes are also recommended in the event of a flat, and helmets are a wise idea along with appropriate clothing and water bottles.

The meeting place described is in northwest Fort Collins about a mile and a half north of the N. Shields St. and Mulberry St. intersection, just past the bridge over the Poudre River on the west side of N. Shields St. From the north, it's about a mile south of Route 287 (also state route 14) on the right side. A restroom is near the parking lot.

The Sierra Club still has some Covid caveats, although no questions are asked about vaccination status. Participants should still be aware of some risk, and anyone having symptoms or known to have recently tested positive should not attend. And if anyone develops symptoms or tests positive within two weeks after the outing, they should notify the leader.

Please feel free to contact the leader with any questions, and I hope to see some familiar and new faces on this different kind of PCG outing.
