Fort Clinch Multiuse Hiking Trail

Come hike the beautiful Fort Clinch hiking trail.  This is a 5.6 mile loop trail on a mostly leaf covered soil ground.  There are lots of hills that are steep and there are tripping hazards.  Hiking poles are a good idea.  There is lots of shade and an enjoyable off shore breeze that make this hike delightful.  We will be walking at a pace of about 20-22 minute miles.  The ranger station is not open until 10:30.  Paying for parking is on the honor system.  When you pull past the station, if you look straight ahead, there is a white metal box you can drop your money in or you can pay on your way out.  It is $4.00 for one in a car and $6.00 for 2-8 in a car.  Once past the station, you will drive about 2 miles to the Visitor Center/Fort entrance to park.  You will see the trailhead for the Multiuse Trail on the left when you first reach the parking lot.  The bathrooms are located next to the Visitor Center.

 * Help the environment by following these tips: Bring your water in a reusable container instead of a single-use plastic bottle. Use sunscreen free oxybenzone and oxtinoxate. These chemicals are extremely harmful to coral reefs, as well as being hormone disruptors in humans.
