Let's take a look at the showiest meteor shower of the year in Markham Park! Come early to chat and get settled in with a campfire and s'mores, and some lawn games. As the night takes over, pull up your lawn chair, or set up your own telescope and check out the night sky. Join one of our leaders on a night hike throughout the evening!
Enjoy all the park has to offer, including a FREE onsite observatory run by the South Florida Amateur Astronomers Association. The Fox Observatory houses many great pieces of viewing equipment. In addition to the amazing Brandon Refractor, the primary observatory equipment consists of our 14 inch Schmidt-Cassegrain @ F/10 and several Dobsonian reflecting telescopes. On a good clear night it’s possible to have as many as 15 telescopes or more setup in various places around the observatory grounds. The observatory is open to the public every Saturday night, rain or shine.
We will meet in Markham Park: Markham Park Rd, Sunrise, FL 33323. Follow signs for The Heron Preserve. Feel free to stay for the night to camp! Only dessert will be provided; feel free to bring your own dinner, breakfast, and snacks. Overnight camping is not necessary to register for the program.
