Learn about and enjoy the beautiful wildlife and colorful history of Fort Lauderdale's waterways. A two hour paddle around the historical Middle River and ending with a picnic in Colohatchee Park.

Join the Broward Sierra Group for a relaxed paddle on the Middle River! The Middle River surrounds almost the entire city of Wilton Manors, which led to the nickname, Island City. The river approximately 7-mile loop originating at the lntercoastal Waterway. The eastern edge of the river is just under one mile from the Atlantic Ocean and less than five miles from Port Everglades. Paddle through unique urban environment for some wildlife viewing and sightseeing. Expect to be out for about two hours on the water. Along with learning about the local history and seeing wildlife, we will make several stops throughout the tour to allow for water breaks. Hang out after for a group lunch hang at the park.
For those with their own vessels, please meet at 9:30am at Colohatchee Park, to launch and head over to our paddlers who will rent. Those who need to rent their own vessel will go to Sunrise Paddleboards and rent with the outfitter. Please try to arrive early, as parking fills up fast on weekends.
What to bring:
- Bathing Suit
- Sunscreen
- Towels
- Sun Protective Clothing (ie. Hats & Sun Shirts)
- Water Shoes or Waterproof Sandals
- Waterproof bags and phone cases
- Water Safety Vest (if bringing own vessel)
