Join us at McDade Park in Scranton for a hands-on nature restoration event! In just a few hours, we'll help rebuild habitats and reduce climate disruption by planting native grass and wildflower seeds that will help turn degraded land into thriving ecosystems. We will have some supplies available, but if you have them, please bring landscaping tools such as hard metal rakes, shovels, and wheelbarrows.

No experience is necessary; just bring your enthusiasm and hard work! We'll use natural solutions to restore biodiversity, improve air/water quality, and reduce invasive species. This is a great opportunity to learn, take action for the environment, and connect with like-minded people. Let's make a lasting impact together!

The work will span a range of difficulty:
-we will shovel, wheelbarrow, and rake to spread compost over the existing invasive grass
-we will mix seeds with compost and spread that mixture by hand
-we will also identify and remove invasive species by hand and with shovels if time permits.

Young children and people with different abilities are encouraged to participate as they wish and be a part of the conversation.
Depending on volunteer turnout, the work will take about 4 hours, so please bring lunch if needed and plenty of water. There is a bathroom on site.

Some gloves may be provided, but please bring your own if you have them; we can't guarantee there will be enough to go around. More details will be shared with registered participants before the event.

(Event is held rain or shine).

Level: Strenuous

Cost: 0

Bring: water, lunch / snacks, landscaping gloves

Cancellation Policy: Activity is held rain or shine, but may be altered due to inclement weather
