This super sweet hike is one of Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park's best- nestled in the stunning redwoods of the Santa Cruz Mountains. Over almost 7 miles, we will have 1351 feet elevation gain through a loop hike that includes forest bathing through the tallest living things on earth, gorgeous views and (perhaps the funnest parts) TWO river crossings. Although the water is not swift and not likely to be over knee high, you will get your feet wet- so if you have sensitive tootsies, bring some water shoes to change into. Who knows, you might even find a fossilized sharks tooth at our highest point at the observation deck- yes, this fascinating area used to be under seawater! Our route will follow the River trail to Big Rock Hole, Buckeye trail, Pine and Eagle Creek.

Bring lunch, plenty of water, warm layers and sun protection. Boots or hiking shoes recommended. Hiking poles and water shoes recommended for the river crossings.

Meet at 10am at the Visitor Center at the main entrance off of Hwy 9. Parking is available at the main lot and use your annual state parks pass or a day-use fee of $10 or borrow a pass from your local public library. Rain cancels. Sorry, no dogs allowed.
