Laurel Falls and Buzzard Point Day Hike

With the water flowing, this hike along Richland Creek - out and up to Laurel Falls - provides awesome scenery. We will hike up the historic trail that follows Richland Creek through an old mining area before turning to ascend the ridge on which the falls are located. We'll also take the spur trail out to Buzzard Point, where we'll have great views of the watershed. At the end we can reward ourselves with a dip in one of the many swimming holes that line the trail. This is a 6.6-mile (round-trip) trail, with 1,800 feet of elevation gain. It is rated moderate due to distance and one short steep section. There are two shallow creek crossings, but these wont be a problem in warm weather. The hike should take 4-5 hours, plus time for our swim.
