Start the Fourth of July Holiday off with a hike and a search for prehistoric fossils! We will hike the Red trail at Calvert Cliffs down to the beach. The hike is approximately 3.8 miles roundtrip. We will take a break once we reach the beach for optional fossil hunting. Over 600 species of fossils from the Miocene era (10 to 20 million years ago) have been identified in the Calvert Cliffs! The trail is sloped, but not steep. There are exposed roots on the trail. The cost to access the park is $5/vehicle for Maryland residents and $2 additional for out-of-state residents. There is no fee for the hike.
