Hike - Belle Island / Brown's Island

Hike from the North Bank Trailhead to Belle Island, along the Buttermilk Trail, and back across the river to Brown's Island. Total distance - about 2 miles, 1.5 hours.

We will hike across the James to Belle Island, then down the Buttermilk Trail to Manchester Park and across to Brown's Island. Total distance will be about 2 miles, with a total time of about 1.5 hours. This is an easy hike, though with a few muddy and rocky sections.

Level: Strenuous

Cost: Free

Bring: Wear appropriate clothing and footwear for covering some muddy and rocky places on the trail. Bring water, a snack, and any personal items your need.

Signup Restrictions: All participants must sign a Sierra Club waiver, either online or at the trailhead. Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a parent. No pets are permitted.

Additional Directions: Meet at the North Bank Trailhead on Tredegar St. (at the Belle Island Parking Lot). The lot may be full, in which case you can park up the hill, on Second St.
