Join Pennsylvania DCNR Bureau of Forestry Forester, Kayla Kehres, for a leisurely stroll through Valley Forge National Park. We will start at the picnic area and walk the Joseph Plump Martin Loop to the Redoubt Overlook Platform, identifying trees, shrubs and herbaceous plants along the way. We will discuss the history of Penn’s Woods, what our forests looked like during George Washington’s stay at Valley Forge, and how modernization and urbanization has impacted our forests today. Sturdy shoes, water and a hat are advised.

A hat with a visor is recommended as well as closed-toe, sturdy footwear. Bug spray may be needed.

Open to adults and children with a responsible adult. The loop hike should take about 1.5 hours. The walk is organized by the Sierra Club and led by DCNR Bureau of Forestry Forester, Kayla Kehres.

This hike is part of the Support Our National Parks event hosted by Sierra Club and others.
